Bread from heaven: Exodus 16:1-7.
The children of Israel came out rejoicing from Egypt. Elohim had delivered them from slavery and they were free after 400 years! So they went out with a song on their lips and gladness in their hearts. But their joy was soon turned into grumbling. Their stock of food which they brought out of Egypt was running out. They were traveling and so they could not plant any crops. Their livestock could not reproduce fast enough to supply meat. So they grumbled. They could not do anything but murmur against Moses, instead of trusting Elohim. They tried to meet their needs by complaining.

Elohim heard their complaint and sent them manna from heaven. For forty years, as they wandered through the wilderness, Elohim gave the manna. Everyday, early in the morning, when they woke up, they would find manna on the ground. It was just what they needed and just what Elohim sent. In this manna we see Yahshua Messiah. In John.6:32-35 he compared himself to this bread.
Notice how Manna points ahead to Yahshua, the genuine Bread from Heaven:
It was small - Exodus 16:14 - This speaks of Messiah’s humility. Israel expected that their king would be of a noble lineage, come with all earthly pomp and glory, with the authority of an earthly ruler. But Messiah was born in a cattle shed and was laid in a manger.
It was round - Exodus 16:14 - This speaks of Messiah's eternal nature, John 1:1.He was in the beginning when the world was created and he will be forever.
It was white - Exodus 16:31 - This reminds us of the sinless, holy nature of the Lord Yahshua Messiah, 1 Pet. 2:22; 2 Cor. 5:21.
It came at night - Exodus 16:13-14 - Yahshua came to a world lost in spiritual darkness and gave them light and life. He came to give sight to the blind.
It was misunderstood by those who found it - Exodus 16:15 - They called it Manna which means, "What is it?" The people did not know what it was. They had never seen anything like it before. Yahshua was misunderstood by the very people He came to save - John 1:11; John 10:20. His own people did not receive him. They thought he had a devil (Lk.7:33). They thought he was a prophet (Matt.14:5) Very few realized that he was the Son of Elohim.
It was sufficient for every man's need - Exodus 16:17-18 –This manna was sufficient food for the Israelites. This reminds us that Yahshua is the all-sufficient Savior. He meets the need of man's soul. Some go deep in the Christians life, others get in but chose to play around the edges, but wherever you find yourself, as long as it is in Yahshua, you will find that He is sufficient to save your soul
It was sweet to the taste - Exodus 16:31 - Those who partook of the Manna found it sweet and satisfying. By the same token, all those who receive Yahshua as their Savior find Him to be sweet to the soul and satisfying to the life. That is why we are encouraged by David to "taste and see that the Lord is good." Psalm 34:8.
It was to be kept and passed on to others - Exodus 16:32 –Israel was commanded to keep some of this manna so that future generations could see what Elohim had provided for them in the desert. In the same way, He is to be shared with those who cross our path.

Israel soon got tired of eating this manna. Everyday, morning and night they had manna to eat. So they tried to grind it and bake it, but instead of tasting like honey, it tasted like oil. The simple but rich food that Elohim gave them was not enough, they wanted flesh- meat. It is the same with Christians today. When the Gospel is accepted and taken in just as God gave it, it has the power to bring life out of death. It has the power to convert the sinner and save the soul. It has the power to alter one’s eternity. It has the power to make all the difference in the world! But when people start to add to the Gospel something new, something which is the preacher’s own interpretation, which is not in the Bible, and call it a new revelation, then the Gospel loses its’ true meaning. The Gospel which is being presented to us is a watered down, weak Gospel which is full of compromises.

Israel was not satisfied with manna. Israel wanted to reject Elohim and his gift. We are still not satisfied with the simple message of the Gospel. We feel that we could do better on our own. Whatever the Israelites did, they still faced Elohim’s punishment. Whatever path we choose, we will all stand before the judgment throne one day and be judged for our actions.

However, not everyone in Israel rejected this manna. There were some people in the camp who quietly gathered the Manna, thanked God for His provisions and lived. There are still some people in this day who have eaten of the Bread of Heaven and are saved and satisfied in Yahshua!

In John 6:51, Messiah said, ‘I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world‘. Messiah is the true bread of heaven. Anyone who eats of this bread has eternal life. It grants salvation to a person.  The bread of heaven has the power to satisfy every soul. Every sinner who comes to Yahshua by faith, repenting of his sins and accepting Yahshua as Savior, will be saved by the grace of God and will live forever in Heaven someday! Those who place their trust in Yahshua Messiah will never be forgotten or cast away. He will not lose us on the way but will take us home with him.

In feeding the 5,000 (John.8),Yahshua showed himself as the bread of heaven. He is shown caring for the multitude, providing for the multitude and satisfying the multitude. Yahshua, like the loaves and fish, is sufficient for the need of mankind. Yahshua is the all-sufficient Savior. Every man took "as much as they would", (Jn.8:11). After they had filled themselves, there was still plenty left over which shows that He is sufficient for the needs of the whole world.
Those who come to Yahshua are eternally satisfied. They no longer have to drink from the broken vessels of this world, but from a source of life and blessing that will never run dry.
Messiah is the only hope for this world. He is what the soul of man needs before it can experience eternal life.
